Current Projects and Activities
Bridge of Love provides the financial support for the Romanian foundation, Podul Dragostei (translated, "Bridge of Love.") Podul Dragostei conducts the following projects and activities for the children’s growth and development:
FULL-TIME SOCIAL WORKERS provide daily counseling, assistance, and compassion to the 50 foster children and their foster parents. They also help the children with homework, conduct educational classes, and oversee social gatherings and field trips.
ANGEL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM allows each of the foster children and their foster mothers to receive $50 a month to help with needs of the child. If the foster mother can’t make ends meet, and can no longer care for the child, the child would be returned to an orphanage because the government is no longer making new contracts with foster parents.
A MATH TUTOR is employed by the foundation on a part-time basis to help the foster children. Math is a difficult subject for most of the children and they need extra help in order to pass their exams and be promoted in school.
CLOTHING, SHOES, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, MEDICINE, AND EYE GLASSES are provided for the foster children, local orphanage children, and children in the villages.
CHRISTMAS GIFTS, ORANGES, AND CHOCOLATES are provided each December for the foster children, the orphanage children, and the village children.
DIAPERS/WIPES are now provided each week for the local children’s hospital, the women’s shelter, and the village babies.
SUMMER CAMP is provided each summer by American and Romanian volunteers for the foster children. The volunteers also spend time at the local orphanage in the village doing activities and distributing clothing.
BABY BLANKETS are given to the local children’s hospital, women’s shelter, and villages for babies in need.
